Obliterated, Obscured, and Altered Writing

We work with attorneys, collectors and others on diaries and documents to determine if writing has been altered.  In other cases, we have been asked to read text that has been obliterated (scratched out ) or obscured due to fire, corrosion, and other types of degradation.  In many cases, this alteration can be detected and obscured writing can be successfully read using non-destructive approaches.  In other cases, chemical and elemental approaches have also provided solutions to these  questions.
