Forensic Dust Analysis Course
This week (9-13 July 2018), Microtrace founder Skip Palenik is teaching a course on the topic of “Forensic Dust Analysis” at McCrone Research Institute in Chicago.
This course is an introduction to the analysis of dust traces for trace evidence analysts and is based on Skip’s experience of more than 50 years in studying dust in a forensic context.
Beginning with the history of dust analysis and the work of Locard, Popp, Schneider, Heinrich, Frei-Sulzer and others, this course will explore the techniques for collecting, separating, analyzing and interpreting dust evidence. Special emphasis will be placed on developing investigative leads such determining environment and/or occupation from the analytical results of a dust analysis.
