Glass Reference Collection

Microtrace’s glass reference collection consists of over 600 samples, which are organized in a searchable computer database.  While many of these items come from the more typically encountered forensic samples (e.g., containers, building and automotive glass), the collection also includes numerous examples from more eclectic origins (e.g., lighting ware, tableware, cookware, televisions, smartphones, decorations, etc.).  This unique collection enables Microtrace’s scientists to not only assess the relative rarity of a particular glass composition, but also to help identify potential sources when a single glass fragment is recovered.
