Skip Palenik to Lead Workshop on Trace Evidence in Animal Abuse Cases

Palenik ASPCA

Next Monday, May 15th, Microtrace founder Skip Palenik will lead a one-day workshop on the role of trace evidence in the investigation and prosecution of animal abuse casework. Through real-life case examples, participants will learn about the scope of a forensic investigation and its application to specialty areas of veterinary forensics, wildlife forensics, and animal cruelty investigations. The lectures will illustrate the range of evidence that may be encountered, including hair, fibers, dust, soil, and even gunshot residue. Throughout the workshop, students will use scientific principles to practice identifying and collecting representative samples of trace evidence. The full workshop schedule is available here.

The ASPCA is sponsoring the workshop in conjunction with the International Veterinary Forensic Sciences Association’s 10th annual conference, which will take place at the Westin New York at Times Square.
